JOB DESCRIPTION
The Certified Nursing Assistant will be responsible for providing general
nursing care within the scope of practice under the direction of the Director
or Administrator to ensure the highest degree of quality for client care is
maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid certification

• A minimum of 6 months experience as a certified nursing assistant or

clinical experience while enrolled in a nursing assistant certification class

• Must possess a sincere desire to serve the ill, aged and infirm

• Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently

• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, clients, family members,

visitors, and the general public

• Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel

• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be

willing to handle clients based on whatever maturity level they are currently
functioning

• Must have the ability to bend, lift and assist with positioning as needed

• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally

upset at times, as well as hostile people within the facility

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with facility’s established

policies and procedures, nursing care procedures and safety rules and
regulations

• Verify the identification of a client before administering nursing care or

serving food, to assure that appropriate care is being provided to the
correct client

• Assure that water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh drinking water and

within the clients’ reach

• Assist clients with eating, dressing and toileting

• Observe clients’ conditions and report changes to the Director or

Administrator

• Measure and record food and liquid intake

• Listen to and record clients’ health concerns and report that information

• Measure clients’ vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature

• Assist clients’ with ambulation as needed

• Other related duties may become necessary or as directed by the Director or

Administrator
